” Rajasthan chapter of Indian Society for Bone and Mineral Research (RISBMR) was inaugurated on 21st September 2002 by hon’ble Health Minister Shri Madhav Singhji Diwan. Health Secretary Shri Parmesh Chandra was also present on this occasion. “

Dr. P.K. Sethi is the president and Dr. Ranu Patni the founder secretary of this society in Rajasthan. Dr. Ranu Patni has been actively working in this field of menopause and osteoporosis since last 7 years. At the inaugural function, Dr. Ambrish Mithal, the president of The Indian Society for Bone and Mineral Research, addressed an intellectual gathering of medical and non-medical personnel and highlighted important issues on osteoporosis in Indian context.

ISMBR on this occasion displayed a poster exhibition on osteoporosis especially designed by the founder members of the society for the general public and exhibition was appreciated by all. The function was a big success not because of the quality of the presentation but also because of the interaction and interest shown by the audience.

For the future, RISBMR plans to tackle one significant aspect of bone and mineral disorder at mass scale while simultaneously promoting research in other areas. All persons who share the views of the society irrespective of the profession or nationality are invited to become members and contribute to the health of the people of Rajasthan.
