World Osteoporosis Day 2012 - Function in Bengaluru

ISBMR celebrated World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) at Bangaluru by organizing a fun evening of Art and Bone Heath.

A product of amalgamation of the left brain (science and logic) and the Right Brain ( creativity and arts) : MC/ emceed by Diana Tholoor.

Flute Performance by Pravin Godkhindi on a 8 foot flute – the only one of its kind imported from Holland.

Synergy between Nisar Ahmed poetry /composition ( a renowned kannada poet) on Lord Krishna / Devi ( Hindu gods) : Poornima Gururaj.

Fusion or flow of various art forms Dance – South Indian/ North Indian ( Odissi), Persian (Eastern), Western ( salsa/hip hop). – Sanaz and Lourde Vijay

Various forms of Paintings (watercolor, oil, charcoal) and Sculptures – Frank will be coordinating this.

The fusion of the 2 – Painting to Music – Live!

And a medical talk about the why and what of bone disease (with emphasis of preventive aspects) by specialists.

Our theme will provide the platform for all the artists to come on a common platform of these Presentations.

Overall we are hoping that all discussions will support the following messages:

  1. Osteoporosis is a huge and growing worldwide health problem
  2. Progress has been made since 2002 but serious problems remain
  3. Our Call to Action urges:
    • Women to engage in a “bone-friendly lifestyle”
    • Health care professionals to take the time to improve their own knowledge of the disease and advice patients on osteoporosis prevention and treatment
    • Government and other health officials to recognize osteoporosis as a health priority and pay for bone density scans, diagnostic tests for vertebral fracture and proven therapies before the first fracture occurs.
