MINUTES OF THE ISBMR GBM MEETING HELD AT THE 14TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2019

1) Welcomed to the GBM by President-Dr. ManojChadha, Secretary Dr. Sanjay K. Bhadada and CEO Brig. SatishKukreja of the society.


2) ISBMR-2018 & ENDO Update held on 8th -9th September at Hotel Pullman, New Delhi & organized by MedantaMedi-city Hospital, Gurgaon.Organising chairman for ISBMR 2018 was Dr.AmbrishMithal and Organising Secretarywas Dr. Sunil Mishra.


3) SPS Teotia oration was delivered by Dr. Sanjay K. Bhadada, PGIMER, Chandigarh and chaired by Dr. D.S Rao&Dr. Rajesh Khadgawat.


4) MMS Ahuja oration was delivered by Dr. S. Minisolaof Sapienza University of Romechaired by Dr. SubhashKukreja and Dr. Sushil Gupta.


5) ISBMR has already sponsored FLS program running at two centers (PGI Chandigarh and Mumbai). More centershave shown their willingness to participate in FLS program. These were
AIIMS, New Delhi (Dr. Rajesh Khadgawat), Dr. KD Modi (Hyderabad) and Dr. VivekArya(Ahmedabad). They also want to start FLS at their respective hospitals. Once e-mail confirmation is received from these centers,ISBMR will provide funds to hire part time manpower.


6) In GB meeting following website issues were discussed and approved by GB members.:
a) It was planned to regularly send email to member to have their inputs on website.
b) It was planned to put bone related publication on website of ISBMR members& also decided to add on the front page of website “Why to                 become ISBMR member”.
c) Prof. SubhashKukreja, kindly agreed to add brief summary of recently published bone related manuscripts on website&DrRituTrivedi                     agreed to continue to work for website for one more year to make it more dynamic.
d)
It was also decided to add interesting bone related case on website once a month Dr Sanjay K. Bhadada agreed to provide one case per                   month.
e) Also approved by GB to add activities of ISBMR on website like education program conducted by ISBMR members.
f) Dr. Ameya Joshi requested to put ISBMR members name and their life membership numbers to be displayed on website.


7) State Chapters:Issue about state chapters was discussed. Any state willing to make state chapter of ISBMR can go ahead as per rules and regulation of ISBMR. CEO of ISBMR will circulate rules and regulations of ISBMR for making new state chapters.


8) Dr. DC Sharma and Dr. SaileshLodhashowed willingness to revive or register Rajasthan chapter of ISBMR. Dr. ManojChadha informed to GB members to initiate Maharashtra chapter of ISBMR by next year.


9) 15thANNUAL CONFERENCE-2019
For the annual conference of ISBMR 2019, Dr. SS Reddy from Bengaluru sent a letter and email to hold ISBMR 2019 at Bengaluru. However, Dr. Reddy was not available to represent himself during GBM. DrKD Modi from Hyderabad also proposed to hold ISBMR 2019. Since Dr. Modi did not sent a letter in advance (Prior to GB) and Dr. Reddy was not in GBM so GB members suggested Dr. Modi to speak to Dr. Reddy and update secretary ISBMR, about the venue of ISBMR 2019. (Later, Dr. Modi informed that Dr Reddy will organize ISBMR 2019 at Bengaluru and DrModi will hold the ISBMR 2020 at Hyderabad. Subsequently, Dr. Reddy also confirmed telephonically to hold ISBMR 2019 at Bengaluru. He was asked to finalize the dates of ISBMR 2019 at earliest).


10) FINANCE: ISBMR research grant (2.5 lakh) was awarded to Dr. ShwetaVarshney, AIIMS , New Delhi.


11) Audited accounts of the society which were presented and examined in GB, and same is approved.


12) Holding of Periodic health education programme for general public. Information of marathons/ walkathons and other health talks to be announced in advance. ISBMR will provide financial assistance upto 50 thousand rupees.Organizer has to provide details of expenditure. Organizer must record the events with picture and send a brief report which willbe uploaded on ISBMR website.


13) CEO of ISBMR informed GB members about making ofFD worthRs. 1 Crore with ISBMR. GB members thanked executive members for raising the funds and CEO for efficiently managing the funds of ISBMR. Special thanks were reserved for Dr. AmbrishMithal.


14) ISBMR executive members (Dr. Sanjay K. Bhadada& Rajesh Khadgawat) are representing ISBMR at IOF Sydney meeting. Their registration and travel will be taken care by ISBMR, restricted to a maximum of Rs. 75,000/- per person.


15) ISBMR& Indian Menopausal Society (IMS) joint education program for year 2019
GB members approved to hold joint education program. However, it is advised that format of talks (slide set) should be approved by ISBMR executive members. GB members suggested 2+2 formula to give talks (2 by ISBMR members of that area and 2 by IMS members). If local members are not available executive member of ISBMR will help.

Tentative suggested talk titles are-
• Magnitude and etiology of Osteoporosis: Indian perspective.
• Approach to osteoporosis (clinical, radiological, DXA Scan and biochemistry).
• Non pharmacological management of Osteoporosis (Diet, exercise, calcium vitamin D & fall prevention).
• Treatment of osteoporosis.


16) SPSTeotia travel grant
Dr. DS Rao proposed to start SPS Teotia travel grant. This grant will be given to young faculty, resident doctors or basic scientist to travel abroad to learn new techniques. Dr. Rao will update about fundraising.


17) The GBM was declared closed by the President after thanking everyone.
