ESCEO - IOF 2013 held in Rome
ESCEO – IOF 2013 was a well attended conference having 870 abstracts and more than 1000 participants. Indian participation led by Dr. Ambrish Mithal was very strong with more than 25 Indian delegates attending this important annual event on bone. There were three oral communications from India as follows:-
- Dr. Dinesh Dhanwal on “One year mortality and functional impairment in hip fracture-a prospective study from India”.
- Dr. Mythri Shankar on Capture the fracture.
The presentations were well received by the audience.
Osteoarthritis was an important topic of discussion and there were many lectures on management of Osteoarthritis. Dr. J.A.Kanis, Dr. J.Y.Reginster and Dr. Cyrus Cooper presented recently released guidelines on Post menopausal osteoporosis in Europe.
One more important event was the study on vitamin D status in children by ISBMR with unrestricted educational grant from ERIS LIFESCIENCES PVT. LTD.. Dr. Ambrish Mithal addressed the group of 25 investigators on 17th April and impressed upon the importance of vitamin D in children. He also discussed the protocol with this group which included some of very senior endocrinologists such as Dr. S. Shridhar Dr. Sunil Mishra etc. This was well received by audience and there was good discussion.
