World Osteoporosis Day – WOD 2013

CME on OSTEOPROSIS
October 20th 2013 – WORLD OSTEOPOROSIS DAY
AHMRDABAD

We organized a half-day CME on OSTEOPROSIS on October 20th 2013 – WORLD OSTEOPOROSIS DAY. It was organized under the auspices of Indian Society Of Bone And Mineral Research – Gujarat Chapter& Ahmedabad Physician Association. Program was accredited with 2 CME credit hours by Gujarat Medical Council. It was well attended and appreciated. More than 125 delegates attended the program. It included 35 physicians, 16 Orthopedicans, 12 Gynecologists, 5 Rheumatologist, 5 Endocrinologist and 52 GP’s and other specialties.

Dr. Rajesh Khadgawat, Secretary of ISBMR was the Guest Speaker for the program. He did full justice for all the three topics which he spoke on. After setting a brief overview about osteoporosis by Dr. Rajesh, next topic of discussion was Vitamin D Deficiency – Problem and its solution. It was delivered by Dr. Vivek Arya. Pitfall in DXA was again discussed by Dr. Rajesh. Role of Estrogen before and after WHI was discussed by Dr. Nita Thakre, a renowned Gynecologist of Ahmedabad. Dr. Parag Shah shared his view on Bisphosphonates and its efficacy in last two decades. Dr. Rajesh expressed his views on Teriparatide and its role as anabolic agent. Dr. Sapan Pandya, a renowned Rheumatologist of Ahemdabad spoke in Steroid induced Osteoporosis. Dr. Bharat Dave, renowned Spine surgeon spoke on how to speed up the bone healing process.

All the sessions were extremely interactive and overall well enjoyed and appreciated by all the delegates.
