World Osteoporosis Day 2014 – Chennai

The ISBMR celebrated WOD 2014 in Chennai, India, in collaboration with ACEER health.

The event, attended by more than 400 doctors and mediapersons, was addressed by Dr Ambrish Mithal (Chief Advisor, ISBMR and Board member IOF) and Dr Usha Sriram (Executive Member, ISBMR). The neglected problem of osteoporosis in men (the theme of WOD in 2014) was discussed in the meeting, in addition to general nutritional aspects for prevention of the condition.

A patient information booklet titled ‘ABCD of Bone Health’ authored by Dr Usha Sriram and her colleagues was released on the occasion.

There was a significant media coverage of the event. Leading newspapers of the country like the Times of India and the Hindu carried stories highlighting the problem of osteoporosis in men.
