Commissioned into the JAT Regiment of the Indian Army in June 1966 through National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy, Brig Satish Kumar retired in Nov 2000 as Deputy Director General of Canteen Stores, where he was responsible for overseeing the Consumer Satisfaction of all the three Services,as its clients. The budget responsibilty was over 3500 crores with 3000 outlets and over 2500 items. The co-ordination was between CSD and Services.

A Graduate of Staff College,he completed his Long Defence Management Course from College of Defence Management, Secundrabad getting a Master in Management Sciences Degree from Osmania University, to which the college was affiliated and was recommended as Instructor in the College.

He successfully commanded his battalion in the J and K Sector and as Brigadier, commanded 10 Sector besides being Deputy Inspector General, Assam Rifles in the North East controlling an area of 15000 Sq KMs with nearly 6000 troops under command in the thick of Counter Insurgency operations.

He held coveted staff and instructional appointments as Brigade Major, Instructor Class A and Joint Planning Staff (Army) in the Cabinet Secretariat (Military Wing), which also entailed being Assistant Secretary to Chiefs Of Staff Committee. During this tenure he successfully co-ordinated activities between The Services Chiefs and the Cabinet Secretary, besides planning joint operations involving India and Foreign countries.

He was the Centre Commandant, The JAT Regimental Centre, Bareilly responsible for administrating the entire regiment for their strength, promotions, pay and allowances, postings and pensions besides recruiting and training the newly enrolled recruits to make them soldiers fit for operational duties.During his tenure he trained over 5000 recruites. He also achieved the distinction of winning most of the Services Sports Championships for the Center and conducted them too. The Center was declared the Best centre in the whole of Indian Army.

After retirement he has been active in teaching in various Management Schools besides carrying out Management Audits of Various firms. He is successfully running a Society known as Indian Society for Bone and Mineral research as Honorary CEO. The society is involved in creating awareness about Osteoporosis among the medical professionals initially, later on to be spread to the masses. Its activities can be seen at web site www.isbmr.org.

His strength lies in Management as a whole with special emphasis on liasion, co-ordinating activities,security aspects, financial, inventory and man management at National and Senior Levels.
