” UP Chapter of ISBMR was established in March, 2011 (under the parent society ISBMR) and registered under the Indian Societies Act 21, of 1860 in after rigorous efforts of Prof. Sushil Gupta (Department of Endocrinology, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow). “

1. A Symposium was held on “Osteoporosis: Emerging paradigms shifts” at Hotel Maple Leaf, Hazratganj, Lucknow on 21st March, 2012. The topics were (a) “Prevalanace of Osteoporosis & Vitamin D Deficiency in India” by Dr Raman Marwaha, Past President, ISBMR, Delhi, (b) “Glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis” by Prof Siddhartha Das, Head, department of rheumatology, CSMMU, Lucknow (c) “screening for postmenopausal osteoporosis” by Prof Vineeta Das, head, department of gynecology and obstetrics, CSMMU, Lucknow.

1. A Symposium was held on “Osteoporosis: Multidisciplinary Approach” at Hotel Gemini Continental, Hazratganj, Lucknow, on 30th April, 2011. The speakers were (a) “Glucocorticoid osteoporosis” by Dr Rajeev Prakash, Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon, (b) Management of osteoporosis by Dr Sushil Gupta, (c) “Orthopedic management of osteoporotic fracture” by Dr Sandeep Kapoor, Consultant orthopedic surgeon, Lucknow.
2. A Symposium was held on “Osteoporosis and Dentistry” at Sardar Patel Dental College, Raebarely Road, Lucknow on 30th August, 2011 at 1.30PM. The lecture was delivered by Dr Sushil Gupta, Department of Endocrinology, SGPGIMS, Lucknow
3. A Symposium was held on “Symposium on osteoporosis” at IMS BHU, Varanasi on 16th October, 2011. The topics were (a) “Bone densitometry: Why, when and how?” by Prof SK Singh, Department of Endocrinology, BHU (b) “Management of Osteoporosis: Why, when, How?” Dr Sushil Gupta, (c) “Glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis” by Prof RN Mishra, Head, department of clinical immunology, SGPGIMS, Lucknow(d) “Emerging therapeutics in osteoporosis” by Dr. Ritu Trivedi, Scientist C, Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow (e) “Orthopedic management in osteoporosis” by Prof. Amit Rastogi, department of orthopedics, IMS, BHU.
